                                                       LOCAL ISSUES:
Our town is changing. Take your eye off the ball and something's gone. Like the old Victorian
workhouse at Barnet Hospital, the 24 hour police station, the registry office or the old fire station in Lytton road. Barnet Football Club are still not 100% sure that they will be staying in the town, the Old Bull and Barnet Market face development. Barnet museum, staffed by volunteers, gets about £3,000 a year from a council where the average council tax is £1,200 a year. What do you think ?
What do you think about the name of Barnet being used to publicise various projects that are nowhere near where we live.

This is an important part of BARNET4U and we will be covering them all.

            POLICE WARNING
Rogue Traders are Operating in Barnet, EN5 area and one old couple have lost £40,000 to these callous thieves.
Their method of operation --- Cold call on vulnerable victims and persuade them to have building work done ( roofing etc). They ask for deposits for the work and also for the erection of scaffolding. They then start work and ask for more and more installments of money as time progresses. They seem happy to take the victims to the bank if necessary.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
As you are all aware, for the last few months we have been raising the issue that vehicle crime is very high on our ward.
Overnight of 20th - 21st March (possibly between the hours of 0300 & 0430) we had 11 cars broken into. This was in the area of Margaret Road & Victoria Road.
The previous night we had 5 cars broken into. Brownlow Close, Edward Road, Lancaster Road.
In the main, most had the front nearside (passenger) window smashed and the glove box rifled through. Many Sat Nav systems were stolen as were the cradles that hold them (even if they were not on view)
Over the last few weeks we have been trying to combat this by working into the early hours of the morning. The only information we have is that there is possibly a white van with a registration number similar to R419GBN which is involved.
The two occupants of the van were white males. If anyone spots a van with a similar registration, please let us know.
Could we please ask once again to pass onto your neighbours to KEEP ITEMS OUT OF SIGHT. REMOVE ALL EVIDENCE OF A SAT NAV SYSTEM. Please help us to help you and DON'T BECOME A VICTIM OF CRIME.
